City of Newton is NOW ACCEPTING BIDS – Demolition of 311 S. Jackson
INVITATION FOR BIDS
The City of Newton, Illinois, (CITY) will receive SEALED BIDS for the PROJECT as referenced as “Home Demolition and Removal at 311 S. Jackson St., Newton, Illinois 62448” (PROJECT) until the time of the Public Bid Opening, at which time and place all BIDS received will be publicly opened and read aloud. This bid opening is scheduled for:

Bid Submission
The envelope containing the BID shall be identified with the project name, name of BIDDER, and the date and time of the BID OPENING, in order to guard against premature opening of the BID. The BID shall be provided in a sealed envelope.
Work Required
The successful bidder shall furnish all labor, equipment, materials, and supervision necessary to complete the demolition and site restoration of the subject property. The work shall include the following:
- Complete demolition and removal of all structures, including foundations, footings, slabs, and any appurtenances located on the premises.
- Removal and lawful disposal of all demolition debris, in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Backfilling of all excavated areas and voids with suitable material, properly compacted to prevent settling.
- Grading of the property, where building was removed, must be to a smooth, level condition consistent with surrounding grade elevations, ensuring positive drainage.
Upon completion, the site shall be left clean, safe, and free of debris, with a finished grade.
Project Bonds
No Bid Bond, Payment Bond or Performance Bond will be required for the project.
Inspection of Site
Each BIDDER should visit the site of the proposed work and fully acquaint himself with the existing conditions there relating to construction and labor, and should fully inform himself as to the facilities involved, the difficulties and restrictions affecting the performance of the WORK. The City has performed an asbestos inspection at the project site. You may obtain inspection reports from Newton City Hall.
Insurance
Contractor shall provide proof of insurance for the project.
Award of Bid
Only lumps sum bids will be considered. Attention is called to the fact that prevailing wages must be paid on this project, and that the Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. The CITY, however, reserves the right to reject any and all BIDS and to waive any informality in BIDS received, whenever such rejection or waiver is in its interest. The PROJECT will be awarded to the most responsive and responsible BIDDER, submitting the lowest BID, that comply with all conditions. The BIDDER to whom the award is made will be notified at the earliest possible date. The CITY reserves the right to consider any BIDDER unqualified, non-responsive, or irresponsible, to do the work of general construction, who does not habitually perform with his own forces the major portions of the work involved. Demolition must commence within 60 days of awarded bid. Notice of demolition date must be given to CITY at least 15 days prior.
