THE CITY OF NEWTON IS HIRING
The City of Newton is hiring two, part time dedicated workers to perform basic repairs and general maintenance duties. Individuals will float between departments for the city as projects or tasks arise. Hours will be 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday. (Please Note: Employment will run from mid May to mid August.) Applications can be obtained at Newton City Hall. Deadline to apply will be February 27, 2026.
Duties may include:
- General lawn cleanup such as mowing, edging and trimming
- Maintain flowers, shrubs and trees
- Street maintenance
- Pothole repair
- Removal of trash and/or debris
- Painting
- Repair damages to building surfaces
- Maintain, service, clean and properly store equipment
- Perform other duties as required
Job Requirements:
- At least 18 years of age
- Have valid driver’s license
- Able to lift at least 50 lbs
- Subject to random drug testing
- Works well with others and take directives
- Must comply with all health and safety regulations
