Welcome to the Newton Electric Department
City of Newton Electric Department is responsible for maintaining two substations and electric lines, in addition to installing electric service and troubleshooting for the city’s electric customers.
Electric Signup & Deposit
Electric service for those residents living within city limits is available through City Hall. Individuals are asked to present an address for services as well as a form of identification. Rental customers and homeowners are required to pay a $350.00 or $500.00 deposit. Rates were restructured in May 2025. The minimum charge was removed, tiers within the rates were reduced and a $16.00 residential and $25.00 commercial meter charge was added.
