Electric Meter Charge (EMC) Added to City Utility Bills
The City of Newton partnered with Utility Financial Solutions, LLC to conduct an electric cost of service study and the council voted to adjust rates and implement a monthly meter charge.
You will notice a new line item, EMC, on your utility bill. EMC stands for Electric Meter Charge. The meter charge reflects the cost to deliver a single kWh of electricity to a customer. It is $16 per meter for residential customers and $25 per meter for commercial customers.
