The City of Newton Wastewater Treatment Plant is located at 105B E. Marion Street and was built in 2006. The plant is Extended Aeration. Average flow is 0.8 million gallons per day, peak flow is 2.6 million gallons per day. The City of Newton Wastewater system includes approximately 27 miles of Wastewater lines and 490 manholes. Three operators are on duty from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. to take care of the plant and collection system.

Wastewater service for those residents living within and outside city limits are available through City Hall. Individuals are asked to present an address for services as well as a form of identification. Rental customers and homeowners are required to make a $350.00 or $500.00 deposit. The minimum charge for Wastewater treatment service shall be $31.06 per month inside city limits. The minimum charge for Wastewater treatment service shall be $46.61 per month outside city limits.
